Testing & Assessment Center

Assessment and Placement

The Testing & Assessment Center’s goal is to help students succeed, and that begins with proper placement.

Foothill College will use multiple measures – high school transcripts, placement test, and guided self-placement – to assess students for Math, English, Chemistry and ESL.

I went to high school in the United States

Don’t Let Math Hold You Back!

Foothill College has undergone some changes as research has shown that students succeed in transfer level math coursework at higher rates when they are allowed to enroll directly into those courses without first taking remedial math.  As a result, Foothill College has undergone some changes in the Math Department; students no longer need to take a placement test to enroll into a transfer level math course. There are several courses to choose from depending on your educational plan/path and whether you are looking to earn your associate degree or transfer.

How to Choose Your Math Course

Any student can enroll in the following courses:

Business and STEM Majors

In order to place into pre-calculus without the corequisite or higher math courses, submit your high school transcript (unofficial transcripts accepted) to the Foothill Testing & Assessment Center to find out if you are cleared to take them. If you do not have a high school transcript make an appointment for an assessment test.
