Winter 2017 Workshops Topics

Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT):  Presented by CSU, East Bay Visiting College Representative. An ADT is a guarantee pathway for transfer into the California State University (CSU) system.  You will learn the benefits of receiving an Associates Degree for Transfer.

Columbia University School of General Studies Presentation: If you intend to complete your undergraduate degree, Columbia University School of General Studies (GS) in New York City may be the place for you The only Ivy League college of its kind, GS empowers returning and adult students (those who have taken a break of at least one year since high school) by fully integrating them into the Columbia University undergraduate curriculum. Learn more about what Columbia can offer you by attending this free presentation.  Advance sign up required.

Common Application Essay Review:  Sign up to have your essays reviewed for the Common Application.  Essays must be printed out with the question/prompt typed on the top of the page.  Each private school will require different essay questions so come prepared with your written documents.  Each appointment is 30 minutes. Advance sign up required.

Common Application Small Group Session:  Learn about admission requirements for each college/university you are applying to. Attend this workshop to log-in to the Common Application and understand the various requirements for each college.  Each session is one hour and limited to five (5) students. Advance sign up required.

Financial Aid for Transfer Students:  Review how to read and compare an award letter.  The Foothill College Financial Aid Office will go over general state and federal aid amounts. They will discuss campus based funds and CSS profile.  Advance sign up NOT required.

Scholarship Workshop: How to Apply & Essay Guidelines:  In this workshop, students learn how scholarships can help finance your education. Transfer Info Session with CAP:  Join the Community Ambassador Program (CAP) to learn more about the Transfer Center and the resources available for students, such as Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAGs), visiting college representatives, and how to make an appointment for workshops and/or the Transfer Counselor.

UC Transfer Admission Planner (TAP): This is an important workshop for students to learn how to set up their Transfer Admission Planner.  Students will work hands-on at computers to learn about the benefits of the UC TAP, create your own account, and start inputting your coursework.  The information in the TAP can be used for applying for a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) and directly imported into your UC Application when ready to apply.  Presented by UC Davis.  You may bring your own laptop, and you must bring transcripts from schools other than Foothill College. Advance sign up required.
