Transfer Admission Agreement
Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) or Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)
What is a Transfer Admission Agreement ?
A TAA or TAG is a written agreement between you, Foothill College and a specific 4-year college or university, which states that if you meet the requirements, you are admitted. The TAA helps you understand:
- The courses you must complete before transferring
- The minimum GPA you must earn and maintain
- The number of units required to transfer
- The specific requirements for high-demand majors
Is a TAA right for me?
A TAA is a free, quick and easy way to determine if you are eligible for admission to a specific college or university. Your TAA secures you a seat at a selected college or university, provided that you meet the conditions specified in the agreement.
International students please note: CSUs do not allow TAAs for international students.
When do I start a TAA?
It depends on the school that you want to attend. If you want a TAA with any of the UC or CSU schools, you generally write your TAA one year before you plan to transfer. If you are writing a TAA for one of the California private schools, the deadline is much later and closer to the term in which you will transfer.
How do I begin a TAA?
- Sign-up for a TAA workshop (optional). You can find out about upcoming workshops and sign-up in the Transfer Center. At the workshop you will find out if you meet the minimum requirements and obtain general information about university admissions.
- Bring copies of all college transcripts to the workshop. Any non-Foothill transcripts must be pre-evaluated by a Foothill College counselor before attending the workshop.
- Schedule an appointment with your counselor (choose one of the counselors listed on the website who belong to the Transfer Team http://www.foothill.edu/transfer/counselors.html to finalize your educational plans and to write the TAA or TAG contract. Bring the completed workshop worksheet (if you have one) and evaluated transcripts to your counseling appointment..
- Your counselor submits your completed TAA contract to the Transfer Center. Expect a response in about 2 to 4 weeks after the deadline.
You may only complete one agreement. However, you can apply to as many universities as you like. If transfer plans change, students are not obligated to attend the TAA schools.
If you complete a Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA), you'll be given first consideration for admission to selected colleges and universities. You must complete agreed-upon general education courses, and courses in your major, with a specified minimum GPA. Work with your counselor to prepare the TAA, which outlines course requirements completed and planned. The TAA should be prepared before transfer. The TAA ensures acceptance and smooth transfer to your chosen college or university. Visit the Transfer Center, located in the Student Development Center for TAA timeline information.
The following institutions offer Transfer Admission Agreements for Foothill students: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, CSU CSU East Bay, CSU Monterey Bay, San Jose State University, Cornell University (College of Engineering only), Golden Gate University, Menlo College National Hispanic University, Notre Dame de Namur, Santa Clara University, University of San Francisco, and University of the Pacific,. This list increases each year and is on file with counselors in the Student Services Building.
Would you like guaranteed admission to one of the following schools? Check the table below to see if you might qualify. If you do, your first step is to attend a TAA Workshop (check What's New for dates and times). Keep in mind that the units have to be transferable and have to be completed before you apply for a TAA.
