Foothill College Theatre Conservatory Presents

Annual Student-Directed One-Act Play Festival on Stage April 11-20 at Foothill College

I Only Have Ives for YouStudents enrolled in the Foothill Theatre Conservatory Program will present I Only Have Ives for You, six one-act vignettes by David Ives, April 11-20 in the new Lohman Theatre at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Evening performances are April 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. A matinee is set for Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m..

The Foothill Theatre Conservatory is an intensive theatre-training program for serious students of college-age and older. "The one-act festival is annual tradition at Foothill College," said Foothill Theatre Arts Instructor Janis Bergmann. "It's the perfect vehicle for the theatre student who is learning the rigors and demands of producing for an audience. Each of the show's acts provides challenging, well-rounded roles for the student-actors as well as complete, well-structured plays for student-directors."

The production's six acts include Enigma Variations, The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, Babel's In Arms, Soap Opera, Arabian Nights and Captive Audience.

In Enigma Variations, directed by Arturo Dirzo of Mountain View, performers Olga Adelung and Patrick Borella of Mountain View; Victoria Ippolito of San Jose; Brian Van Winkle of South San Francisco; and Derrick Brooks of East Palo Alto experience a zany deja vu journey between the plains of reality and illusion.

The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, directed by Dan Mitchell of South San Francisco, combines a classic whodunit with experimental satiric comedy and features Adam Magill of Palo Alto; Beth Boulay of Campbell; Kevin Hull of Sunnyvale; Lucy Littlewood of Mountain View; and Alex Hero of Menlo Park.

Directed by Juliana Schoedinger of San Jose, Arabian Nights unites an exotic shop girl and a meek tourist in a whirlwind romance. It features Ross Buran of Hillsborough; Sarah Griner of Redwood City; and Gina LaGuardia of Cupertino.

Don't attempt to adjust your TV set-or it'll adjust you-in Captive Audience, which features Tim Goble and Sara Krindel of Mountain View; Kirsten Macaulay of Foster City; Tom Shamrell of San Jose; with direction from Jake Van Tuyl of San Jose.

Menlo Park's Jerome Sephers directs Babel's in Arms, the tale of two blue-collar Mesopotamians who are commanded to build the Tower of Babel to reach God-or else. The act features Angel Ordaz of Santa Clara; Martin Gutfeldt of Palo Alto; Matt Daly of Morgan Hill; Kate Chan of Los Altos; and Georgina Kartsonis of San Jose.

Directed by Shannon Tierney of Sunnyvale, Soap Opera is a clean love story that will spin your perspectives around in life, rinse away your previous notions of romance, and leave you awash in emotional delight. It features Tim Goble and Patrick Borella of Mountain View; Michael Vitols and Gillian Kelleher of Cupertino; Brittany Pirucki of Sunnyvale; and Victoria Spencer of Campbell.
