Statewide Articulation Projects & Initiatives
Each year, new initiatives and programs are developed to improve and increase articulation. This page contains some of the current developments and resources.
South Bay Area General Education Reciprocity Agreement (pdf, 144KB)
In an effort to support students who take classes at more than one community college, Foothill College participates in a mutual agreement between participating institutions in the South Bay Area to accept the General Education of these colleges "as completed". Students who obtain a certification of completion of the Associate Degree General Education or who complete an Associate Degree at any one of the participating institutions will have both their general Education course work and graduating proficiencies accepted "as completed" at any one of the participating campuses. No additional coursework will be required if the certification is officially presented. Students will still be required to complete all courses or prerequisites for the chosen major. This agreement (pdf, 144KB) is reviewed periodically. This agreement (pdf, 144KB) was developed after careful review of the participating colleges general education patterns and was approved by the College Curriculum Committee, Academic Senate and Board of Trustees.
Participating institutions include:
- Chabot College
- De Anza College
- Evergreen College
- Foothill College
- Gavilan College
- Las Positas College
- Mission College
- Ohlone College
- San Jose City College
- West Valley College
Curriculum Institute Web Site
Each summer, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges offers a multi-day Curriculum Institute. The Curriculum Institute is intended for faculty, particularly curriculum chairs, and chief instructional officers who are involved in new program development, program revision, or technology for curriculum development. The Institute is also recommended for teams of academic senate representatives, curriculum committee members, articulation officers, and administrators. The web site contains a wealth of information, including archives of information from former Curriculum Institute sessions.
State Academic Senate Curriculum Web Site
This Academic Senate for California Community Colleges website is designed to assist those within the California Community Colleges who design and approve curriculum. The web page is organized into six topic areas: Guidelines and Regulations, Curriculum Development, Curriculum Committee Information, Best Practices, Resources, and the California Intersegmental Articulation Council Handbook. Caution: While much of the information is helpful, some of documents are outdated.
IMPAC Project (Intersegmental Major Preparation Articulated Curriculum)
Although funding for the IMPAC project has been discontinued, this web page contains a wealth of information for faculty regarding university expectations of community college curriculum, organized by discipline. The final reports of all discipline meetings are available.

The CSU LDTP is one way students can prepare for transfer to the CSU. Community college courses may be submitted for CSU faculty review and must meet established criteria. The most up-to-date descriptions for lower division classes are available here.

- Identify and recommend policies to meet the educational, research and public service needs of the State of California; and
- Advise the Governor and Legislature on policy and budget priorities that best preserve broad access to high quality postsecondary education opportunities.
California Intersegmental Articulation Council (CIAC)
The California Intersegmental Articulation Council (CIAC) serves as a statewide forum for Articulation Officers to meet, discuss, and resolve college transfer and articulation issues; and to facilitate the progress of students between and among the segments of postsecondary education in California.
Toward this purpose, the activities of CIAC include:
