Adapting the definition of the National Council for Staff, Program and Organization Development (NCSPOD) and the California Commuity College Council for Staff and Organizational Development (4C/SD), Foothill College defines the framework for a comprehensive community college Staff Development Program to fulfill its mission as encompassing three levels:

Serving the people who serve the organization and its students.
Staff Development, which serves administrators, faculty and classified staff includes four major components:

Orientation Programs: to integrate new colleagues into the institution;

Professional Development Programs: to enable colleagues to learn how to perform their jobs more efficiently and effectively;

Personal Development Programs: to enable colleagues to enhance their personal skills;and

Recognition Programs: to acknowledge and reward colleagues
for exemplary performance.
