Sentinel Student Newspaper

Wanted: Writers, Layout Artists, Photographers

Foothill students produce an eight-page newspaper every two weeks. The Sentinel has published for more than forty years and seeks writers on various subjects, including campus news, arts, sports, and opinion. Typical subjects: "Block Scheduling," "Local Eateries," "Student Govt Meetings," "Common Student Problems," "Campus Theatre/Music Events," and "Politics." Most articles are 500-600 words. It also seeks editors, preferably with software experience, such as Quark XPress experience.

Students who want to write just one article per quarter may simply write it and mail it to the email address below.

Students who want to participate regularly in the paper should enroll in English 114, Sec. 01, Producing a Student Newspaper, which meets Mondays from 1:00 to 2:50 in room 4004 (KCI). See the Online Schedule. This two-unit course covers newspaper basics and includes the weekly staff meeting at which articles are decided. Students are welcome to come to the first class and then make a decision.

Questions should be sent to patnodedarwin@foothill.edu.
