Criteria:Active participation each quarter the course is repeated will enhance the student's cognitive and performance skills. Emphasis will be put on increasing fitness levels. These include: A. ability to execute skills required for high level of performance. B. increased physical fitness: muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility C. better critical thinking in competitive situations D. develop more expertise and playing competency E. better understanding of and ability to apply the rules in playing situations. F. better able to manage the mental part of the game.

1. Description -
A continuation in the development of athletic skills, physical and mental conditioning which is required to be successful in intercollegiate athletics.
Prerequisite: None
Co-requisite: None
Advisory: Not open to students with credit in H P 35K.

2. Course Objectives -
The student will be able to:
  1. prepare to compete on an intercollegiate team at a maximum level of performance
  2. experience making a contribution by playing on a team
  3. discuss and demonstrate effective strategies required by the sport
  4. demonstrate increased strength, endurance, stamina, flexibility and knowledge of healthy diet.
  5. value game/sport/event as a cultural bridge and a lifetime activity
3. Special Facilities and/or Equipment -
As required by sport, i.e., golf clubs for golf, tennis racket for tennis.

  1. Advanced development of fundamental skills applicable to the sport:
    1. individual physical skills relative to sport
    2. team skill/plays/strategies relative to sport
  2. Physical fitness development
    1. muscular strength

  3. Stress and pressure/mental game:
    1. choking and safeguards against pressure.
    2. when to take chances and when to play it safe.
    3. concentration and "the zone".

    1. video on the rules of sport

    1. individual skills/techniques
    2. team drills/strategies
