Student Learning Outcomes -
  • A successful student will demonstrate in-depth awareness of composition and photographic design.
  • A successful student will be able to import images into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and make use of the organizational and output abilities of this professional software.
Description -
Develop intermediate photographic skills with the use of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and photographic design techniques. Evaluate and utilize current methods of workflow including archiving, file management, development, image publishing, beginning color management and printing. Build skills in composition, design, project editing and visual communication. Utilize design principles to create images that communicate effectively.

Course Objectives -
The student will be able to:
  1. demonstrate in-depth awareness of and ability to use the digital camera.
  2. Ability to import and export images using the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Program and manipulate photographic to professional standards.
  3. Create hard copy photographic images for portfolio presentation.
  4. Create image archives, including Compact Disk (CD), DVD and hard drive technologies
  5. Create slides shows and websites
  6. Utilize effective design principles in the creation of photographs for visual communication
  7. Demonstrate awareness of contributions from diverse cultures and backgrounds to the development and application of digital camera technology.
Special Facilities and/or Equipment -
A lecture room equipped with color LCD overhead projector displaying projected computer displays; a desk or workstation for each student; an instructional computer with high resolution monitor, scanner, color printer and Adobe PhotoShop Lightroom software; lighting and wallspace suitable for displaying and critiquing hardcopy output; an integrated or separate facility for student computer time.
