Application and Registration System
Review the following items prior to entering the Registration System.
- Social Security Numbers are required for the application process. If you have no Social Security Number, call the Foothill College Admissions & Records office at (650) 949-7325. A nine-digit ID number will then be issued to you. You can then use this ID number to fill out the application form and submit it online.
If you already have a nine-digit identification number issued to you by De Anza College, you may use that number to complete the application process. After you submit your application, a new eight-digit Student Identification Number (SID) will then be assigned to you. Remember the SID and your PIN because these numbers will be required for your future registration and college business transactions at Foothill College.

Browsers, Cookies and Other Issues
- Browser Support -
The Registration system requires Internet Explorer 5.1 or above or recent FireFox/Netscape versions to complete the application or registration process. Other web browsers including Mozilla Org, iCab, OmniWeb and Opera have not been tested and may not be recognized by the system. For best results, we strongly suggest that you use the FireFox browser.
- Enabling Cookies and/or Javascript -
If your browser is not set up to properly handle cookies and javascript you will not be able to successfully register. Please review the Enabling Cookies and Javascript documentation for information on how to properly configure your browser. For best results, we strongly suggest that you use the FireFox browser.

Review Your New Student Identification Number (SID)
A new student identification number (SID) has been assigned to you. This SID is an eight-digit, system-generated number that can be used in place of your nine-digit number, which usually has been your Social Security number. Your SID will be used throughout the colleges' student information system. You can use either the new SID number or your Social Security number to conduct most of your college business with Foothill College and De Anza College. We encourage you to use your SID along with your personal identification number (PIN) to conduct college transactions, including registration, fee payment, transfer requests, and many other services that require identification.
- If you are a new student, you must still enter a nine-digit ID when you apply for admission. The SID is generated after you submit your application.
- If you are a continuing or former student at Foothill College or De Anza College, an SID has been automatically assigned to you.
To review your new SID, follow these steps:
- Go to the Foothill Registration System entry page, https://registration.fhda.edu/prod/web/default.jsp
- Select the Foothill Registration System link.
- Enter the appropriate log in information.
- You will be directed to the Main Menu.
- Select the Student ID Lookup link located at the lower left portion of the Main Menu page.
- Your new eight-digit SID will be displayed.
- Write down your SID and store it in a safe place. Because your records can be accessed with your SID, you should treat your SID as you would any other important identification. Do not share your SID with anyone.
By using your SID, you're helping Foothill-De Anza prevent identity theft. A new state law, that will go into effect in 2007, requires that schools not use student Social Security numbers unless absolutely necessary, as in the case of financial aid or student employment. The law also requires that community colleges provide an SID to students by January 2007. The Foothill-De Anza District is beginning the process of changing student ID numbers now to comply with the new law and help protect students from identity fraud.
