Real Estate (2009-2010)The Real Estate program offers a wide range of professional, certification, and general interest courses to the general public who are prospective property owners, present property owners, or real estate investors. The major also offers advanced courses for real estate agents or for individuals in real estate related fields and industries. Students can satisfy course work requirements for a state license as a real estate sales agent and/or broker. Career OpportunitiesCareer opportunities include positions as real estate agents, real estate brokers, appraisers, property managers, financiers, land developers and in construction. Many other industries are directly or indirectly related to real estate and often require a basic knowledge of the area before employment is considered. Units required for Major: 33Units required for Certificate: 12-33 Associate Degree Requirements: • English proficiency: ENGL 1A, ESL 26 or equivalent. Program Type(s):• Mathematics proficiency: MATH 105 or equivalent. A minimum of 90 units required to include: • All General Education requirements • Core courses (33 Units) • Electives & other graduation requirements as appropriate. AA = Associate in Arts Degree. Additional Information:CA = Certificate of Achievement. CCC = Career Certificate. NOTE: Students having difficulty in attaining an Associate in Arts Degree because of timing or availability of classes should consult with a counselor to submit a petition for course substitution. General education courses are not required. This certificate meets the California Department of Real Estate course requirements for a Broker license.
