Degree, Transfer and Certificate Programs (Curriculum Sheet)
Internet Technology (2008-2009)This major is intended for students wishing to upgrade or acquire new skills in the fast growing field of Internet Technology. There are four areas of concentration within this subject area, including: Electronic Business, Web Programming, Web Administration, and Web Publishing. The course of study includes a foundation in all aspects of the Internet and expands to specialize in one of the above areas. Career OpportunitiesThe explosive growth in the use of the Internet has created a demand for new skill sets. All facets of doing business on the Internet have developed into exciting career opportunities, and these opportunities are as diverse as the Internet itself. Creating, administering, & maintaining Web Sites, as well as starting (and running) a business using the Internet continue to be “in-demand” career skills. Units required for Major: 35-45Units required for Certificate: 25-45 Associate Degree Requirements: The Associate of Science degree in Internet Technology with a specialty in Electronic Business, Web Programming, Web Administration, Web Development, or AJAX requires the following: Program Type(s):• English proficiency: ENGL 1A, ESL 26 or equivalent. • Mathematics proficiency: MATH 103/105 or equivalent. A minimum of 90 units required to include: • All General Education requirements • COIN 51 Fundamentals of Internet Technology (5 Units), or equivalent • Coursework equivalent to obtaining any Internet Technology Proficiency Certificate • Electives & other Graduation requirements as appropriate NOTE: All courses pertaining to the major must be taken for a letter grade. In addition, a GPA of 2.0 or higher is required in all Core and Support courses for the Degree or Certificates. 50% of the major units must be taken within Computers, Technology and Information Systems Division. AS = Associate in Science Degree. Certificate informationCA = Certificate of Achievement. CP = Certificate of Proficiency.
