Project GuidelinesYou may choose one of the topics from the following list. Your project must be approved by your instructor and submitted as a typed, double-spaced report, using analytical skills to determine the relevance of your findings to your professional or academic development. Project = 10 points. DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO DO YOUR PROJECT! 1. Career PlanningCreate a report on a specific career of interest. Include:
Resources: 2. Career PortfolioBuild a career portfolio and show to your Cooperative Work Experience instructor. The portfolio must include samples of your work, i.e., graphic works, brochures, pictures of art pieces, Web site development, descriptions of collaborative efforts and or the development of training sessions that you have completed. Resources: 3. Service Learning ProjectService learning furthers the learning objectives of the CWE course, addresses community needs, and requires students to reflect on their activity to gain an appreciation for the relationship between civics and academics. This is an opportunity to express your perspective on the social involvement and consciousness of your present employer. This will provide you a view on how the organization impacts the immediate community, i.e., through employment opportunities or workforce development, or what impact your employer may have on the environment. Other service learning projects could be researching and suggesting ways in which your employer may better work with the community, i.e., taking further advantage of recycling centers, building non-profit partnerships and/or becoming more involved with the community through a variety of activities or services. The Service Learning Project must be at least a one-page essay describing your thoughts and perspective on your employer’s involvement. The format of the essay is a 12pt. typed paper. You MUST submit a proposal to your instructor before moving forward with your project. 4. Training Seminar PaperIf you are involved in work-related training and will be learning new skills or attaining new information about a function of your job, you can write a paper about this learning experience. The paper must be at least one page, typed, single-spaced, 12 pt. The Training Seminar paper will include the following:
Examples of training seminars are as follows: Safety Training, seminar on Diversity in the Workplace, workshop on new computer skills or a workshop on hiring trends for your company/local community, etc. You MUST submit a proposal to your instructor before moving forward with your project. |
