Earn College Credit for Your Paid or Volunteer Work

If you work 5 to 20 hours per week in a paid or volunteer position, you can earn one to four college units through the Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) Program.

Great Benefits

  • Earn transferable units to California state universities and select private colleges and universities.
  • Enhance your resume and career portfolio.
  • Develop a network of future career leads.
  • Improve your professional skills.
  • Choose a career best suited for you.

Your Job is the Classroom

To participate in CWE you must:

  • Have a job—paid or volunteer—and work 5 to 20 hours per week during the quarter.
  • Enroll in 7 units during the quarter; your CWE course can be included in the 7 units.

You do not attend an actual class—your job is the classroom. You must meet with the cooperative education instructor at least once during the quarter.
