The Landscape of Self

A portfolio of 11 three-color relief prints created in Spring 2011

About the project

For this, our third portfolio, we set the parameters before we selected a theme. Let’s use three colors, we said. How about a horizontal format, we asked. And, because horizontal is also called “landscape,” we liked the possibility of a double meaning. But the traditional “nature landscape” seemed a little too broad—and didn’t lend itself to the ideas we were developing. “The Landscape of Self” was perfect—personal and internal while substantial enough for multiple interpretations. With the theme settled, we were ready to choose colors.
