A Community of printmakers who make prints, exhibit prints, discribute prints and educates the public about the print arts.

 

About the Foothill Printmakers
• The Foothill Printmakers consists of twenty-seven artists enrolled in GID 95: Graphic Arts Studio Projects, a year-long class, facilitated by Kent Manske at Foothill College. Participate artists communicate through a yahoo group and at scheduled studio sessions in Studio 1801.

• Business meetings of the Foothill Printmakers are every other Tuesday from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.
Winter Quarter Meetings: January 06, 20, February 03, 17, March 03, 17. Meeting minutes.

• Activities and projects of the Foothill Printmakers are funded in part by the Associated Students of Foothill College ASFC.


On-going Exhibitions

Think Ink is an exhibition of works created and curated by printmakers in Studio 1801 at Foothill College. The works address a wide range of contemporary
issues and feelings. Works are intaglio, relief, screenprint, monotype, monoprint, collograph or a combination thereof.

fe:MailArt: Ideas for maintaining a healthy planet
An international mail art project to be exhibited at the Foothill College Library Gallery in March 2009. All postcards received through the mail will be exhibited. Students, classes, faculty and staff at Foothill College are encouraged to participate. Received mail will also be exhibited on the project website. See website for instructions and gallery.

An exhibition of prints by Foothill Printmakers. Prints were created in Studio 1801, an environmentally conscious graphic arts studio at Foothill College. Courses in print & book art are offered through (GID) the department of Graphic & Interactive Design department.

Conscious Books
An exhibition of artist's books by members of the Bay Area Book Artists. Exhibited books reflect the 2009 Women's History Month theme (Women taking the lead to save the planet) in diverse ways including books that address social issues and books that use natural, recycled, green, or found materials.

Community Garment Printing Activity
The community is invited to screenprint t-shirts, aprons, scarfs, bags or any garments they bring with custom designs by Foothill College art and graphic design students. Designs will reflect the Women's History Month theme including "ideas for maintaining a healthy planet". Participants will be welcome to make their own on-the-spot hand-cut stencils for printing their unique designs. The event is sponsored by the Foothill Printmakers.

Button Making Activity
The community is invited to make buttons with custom designs by Foothill College art and graphic design students. Designs will reflect the Women's History Month theme including "ideas for maintaining a healthy planet". Participants will be welcome to bring their own artwork (download template here) or create on-the-spot artwork for pressing their unique button designs. The event is sponsored by the Foothill Printmakers club.
