Once upon a time

A portfolio of seventeen linoleum relief prints created in Spring 2010.

About the project
Once Upon A Time in Spring 2010, a gathering of ideas kindled into linoleum prints, bringing together a portfolio worthy of story-telling. Seventeen talented artists worked individually, under much-discussed project guidelines, hand-carving their 12 x 12 inch plates of linoleum, creating and printing their stories for an edition of 24 prints.

Much excitement emanated from the print room as the editions began, the studio vibrating with paper, press and ink; printers exclaiming with great joy and occasional creative angst as prints were pulled off the press. The resulting portfolios contain one image from each of the seventeen artists, featuring black printer's ink on white 22 x 15 inch Rives BFK printmaking paper.

Once Upon A Time has been a collaboration of artists working alongside Kent Manske, who was instrumental in facilitating this project, and Zahra Fard, who was invaluable in the printing process. We hope your inner raconteur is inspired as you view these images.
