1801
a cultural arm of the "Foothill College Print & Book Arts" community

In the beginning . . .
On August 16, 2007 six "makers of things" gathered at a picnic table and "1801" was born. Ideas were flying. Ideas were laughed at. Ideas were dismissed as doodle. The gathering formed a conceptual entity, to be know as 1801, which will take form in "what happens".

1801 references the room number of the print & book arts studio at the college. 1801 references the community of makers that gather there on a regular basis. 1801 references the works of cultural production that evolve from the community. 1801 references what happens.

The six who gathered self-appointed themselves as the board of directors. KZ and DE were missing in action.
