| Is there a charge for Placement? |
There is no charge for placement tests in chemistry, English, English as a Second Language (ESL) or mathematics for Foothill College. There will be a $25 charge to test for another college.

| Do I need to make a reservation? |
Yes - but if you are unable to use the reservation system, you may drop in during the posted office hours. We will attempt to accommodate you, but you may have a lengthy wait.

| May I use my transcript from another college instead of attending a placement session? |
Yes, bring either an official or unofficial transcript to your Counseling Appointment. Call (650) 949-7423 to schedule.

| May I use my test scores from another college? |
Yes, but only if the test you took is the same as the Foothill test. Bring your college test scores to the Assessment Office (room 6305) or fax your scores to (650) 949-7375 to the attention of the Assessment Office.

| What do I need to bring to the assessment session? |
PHOTO identification such as a driver’s license, passport or student body card.
STUDENT ID (or social security number).

May I use a dictionary?

Yes, but only ESL translation dictionaries are allowed and only for the Math and Chemistry tests. |
May I use a calculator during the math assessment session?

No.

May I use a calculator during the chemistry assessment session?
|
Yes, but only one with no alphabet keys or graphing ability and only for the Chemistry test. |
| May I test from out of the area? |
Yes, if you are near an assessment center; check the following site for the locations: http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/ Request that the proctor at the center email turnerkathleen@foothill.edu for further instructions. |
| How do I find my placement results? |
Placement results are available through the registration system at https://registration.fhda.edu/prod/web/default.jsp. You will need to use your PIN (personal identification number). For privacy reasons, results may not be given over the phone. If you do not have access to the internet at home, come to the Student Success Office at the main campus in the Administration Building, Room 1901.

| Can I retake the test? |
Yes, but only within these timelines:
English test: once a year
ESL test: once a year
Math test: once every 90 days

| Does Foothill offer Disability Accommodations for Placement Tests? |
Placement tests are available in alternate text format, such as Braille, audio tape, large print, and e-text.
