Film Festival III: War Zone & Presenter Shawn Townes, Ph.D.
Foothill College Speech Communication Instructor Shawn Townes, Ph.D.,
will screen the provocative film,
War Zone, and
facilitate a discussion detailing how the women featured in the film
experienced the street and passersby as kind of war zone in which the
women assaulted, victimized and treated as sex objects. You’ll
discuss what it feels like to be a woman walking on the street in a
cultural environment that does nothing to discourage men from
heckling, following, touching or disparaging you in public spaces.

confronting her abusers she reclaims space that was stolen from her.
