Foothill College will host the 6th Annual Bay Area Science Symposium Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Appreciation Hall (Room 1500) at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Students as well as professional scientists are invited to attend.
With the theme of The Genomes Out of the BottleNow What?, presenters will discuss the latest advances and scientific breakthroughs in genetics research.
Kaiser Permanente Genetic Counselor Elizabeth Hoodfar will present The Application of Human Genome Data to Genetic Disease; San Francisco State University Instructor Michael Goldman, Ph.D., will present Alive AgainThe Human Cloning Debate; and Incyte Corporation Research Scientist Elizabeth Stewart, Ph.D., will present 1, 2, 3, 4,000: How Many Genes Make Up the Human Genome.
Conference registration begins at 7:45 a.m.; presentations run from 8:30 a.m. to noon; and student presentations are scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students; $12 for faculty and non-students.
Parking lots 1 and 3 provide easy access to Appreciation Hall. Foothill College is located off I-280 at El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. Campus visitors must purchase a required parking permit for $2. For more information, call (650) 949-7249.
