Keynote Speaker Muslim American Author Samina Ali
Samina Ali’s award-winning novel
Madras on Rainy Days confronts the taboo subject of male homosexuality in the South Asian Indian community from the perspective of a Muslim woman forced into an arranged marriage. Ali is a former Foothill College English Instructor.

Lecture Series I: Actor & Author Ed Gunawan
Based in part on his own coming-out story, Ed Gunawan’s short film
Stills has drawn rave reviews and awards at international film festivals from San Francisco to Jakarta to Rotterdam. A former Foothill student, he has also written and performed a one-man play and works as a professional model in the advertising industry. Co-sponsored by Foothill Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Planning Committee.

Transgender author Max Wolf Valerio chronicles his transition from life as a woman to life as a man in his autobiographical book
