Foothill Repertory Dance Company Presents American Dream
Concert Showcases Original Student Works

Under the direction of Foothill College Dance Instructor Bubba Gong, the award-winning Foothill Repertory Dance Company presents American Dream, its annual springtime fund-raising concert May 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Smithwick Theater at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Proceeds benefit the Foothill dance program.

Parking lots 1, 5 and 7 provide easy access to the theater. Visitors must purchase a required parking permit for $2. Tickets are $20, general; $15, student and seniors with ID; and $100, reserved patron. To purchase tickets, call (650) 949-7360.

The show celebrates the American spirit and showcases a variety of dance forms, including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, ballroom, modern, musical theater and world dance. The annual concert provides a showcase for a variety of student works and original choreography, including Olympiad of the Arts winners Tami Burton, Taylor Lucey, John Celona, Sharleen Chu, Denette Saure, Erica Smith, Federico Moreno, Juan Carlos Miranda, Teresa Visini and Luisa Pardo. Featured guest artists will include ballroom champions Federico Moreno and Dina Bistry; Dance Connection of Palo Alto, Sequoia High School Dancers, TAP Explosion, Underage, Darrin Glesser, Caitlin Lawrence and Myya Suhl.

A recipient of the Bay Area Critics Circle Award, Gong will premiere Fp2P: From Puccini to Prince, a modern ballet suite that explores love, passion, power and dreams. The show will also feature a tribute to Academy-Award-winning film, Chicago, and the genius of the legendary Bob Fosse.

American Dream features dancers from throughout the Bay Area, including Erica Frances Smith of Belmont; Jesse Ponce, Jennifer Vaillancourt, Krysta Walsh and Rhiann Woodyard of Cupertino; Uriel Manrique and Chris Schulz of East Palo Alto; Valentina Mark, Denette Saure, Kacy Takamoto and Sharleen Chu of Los Altos; Annie Tepe of Los Altos Hills; Jennifer Yuan of Menlo Park; Kwame Nash and Tami Burton of Palo Alto; Sarah Hogan, Taylor Lucey, Jonathon Moreno and Jelainie Galang of Redwood City; Terin Kandarian, Cassandra Murray, Myya Suhl, Teresa Visini and John Celona of San Carlos; James Lontayao, Federico Moreno and Erin Cole of San Francisco; Wiley Ho and Peite Ting of San Jose; Nafees Hamid of San Mateo; Julio Fabian and Jenn Cambra of Santa Clara; Daphne Ng of Saratoga; Darrin Glesser, Juan Carlos Miranda and Veronica Vasquez of Sunnyvale; and Leeanne Sera of Woodside.

A veteran of show business, Gong founded the repertory dance company at Foothill and started the college's dance scholarship fund at Foothill College. Gong was a Walt Disney discovery, received his graduate degree in dance from Stanford University, and serves on the Peninsula Arts Community Foundation. He starred in Flower Drum Song with Pat Suzuki, ABC's General Hospital and a variety of national commercials. He is a former member of the Association of Asian Pacific American Artists Board of Directors and is a current member of Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild.
