The Foothill College Concert Choir presents CelebrAsian!, a concert that showcases the musical art forms of India, Indonesia, Fiji, Korea, Japan and Hawaii, Friday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 1501 at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. All concert selections will be signed so that audience members who are deaf or hearing impaired can experience the performance.
Under the direction of Foothill College Choral Studies Instructor Lydia Oey, the concert will include guest artists Tony Khalife, percussion; Elizabeth Wood, sign language interpreter; and Hawaiian dancers. The concert features Hotaru Koi, Sakura, Namah Shivaya Chant, O Yippo, Rege, Ahrirang, E O Mai and Aloha Oe. Selections will be accompanied by tabla and taiko drums.
"This concert celebrates Asian and Asian-American heritage," Oey said. "We will perform a variety of traditional, folk and composed works that integrate movement and audience participation."
Tickets are $7, general; $6, students and seniors. The concert is appropriate for children age 7 and older.
Parking lots 1, 5 and 6 provide easy access to Room 1501. Visitors must purchase a campus parking permit for $2.
