The Foothill College Theatre Arts Department presents an open house Thursday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Lohman Theatre (Room 8002). Admission is free; parking is $3.
Meet Foothill theatre arts faculty, tour theatre facilities, and learn how you can be part of Foothill's long-standing, excellent reputation as an advanced theatre training program.
With courses, certificates and degrees in performance and technical theatre, Foothill offers a two-year program that is geared toward students who want to study theatre in an intensive, supportive environment that is rigorous and fun, and leads to an associate degree. Courses meet weekdays, from September to June. Opportunities are available to students of all ability levels in a variety of departmental class and production offerings, including an actor performance training and award-winning music theatre program, as well as the comprehensive and rigorous technical theatre program, which can lead to a career in the entertainment industry—a lucrative and well-paying career choice for many, and a critical component of any comprehensive theatre training program.
Faculty speakers will also discuss recent enrollment changes to state law, and the modifications that the theatre program has implemented to comply with these new regulations.
Foothill theatre programs offer exciting opportunities and training experiences, including classical to contemporary stage acting, acting for film and TV, script analysis, auditioning for the stage and camera, directing, voice, singing and musical theatre, dramatic literature, theatrical makeup, actor marketing strategies, production management, set construction, and lighting and costume design, as well as production opportunities in Foothill's quarterly departmental plays and musicals, student-directed one-acts, and the college's Brown Bag Theatre group.
Admission is free; reservations are requested. To make a reservation or for more information, e-mail Theatre Arts Instructor Janis Bergmann at BergmannJanis@fhda.edu or call (650) 949-7012.
