The Foothill Authors Series presents Helen Wang, author of The Chinese Dream Wednesday, April 13, at noon in the Hearthside Lounge (Room 2313) in the Campus Center. Admission is free and the public is invited. Parking is $2; purchase required campus parking permit from dispenser in any student lot. Read Forbes and The Atlantic say about The Chinese Dream A Forbes contributor, consultant and expert on China’s middle class, Wang, who is originally from China, has lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years. After finishing a master's degree at Stanford University, she joined at a prestigious think tank, Institute for the Future, in Menlo Park, CA, and consulted for Fortune 500 companies, including Apple Computer, Oracle and Bank of America. She later became an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley Internet start-ups. In 2004, she returned to Stanford as a Reuters Fellow, developing technology solutions for underserved communities. She founded a social venture, e-Mobilizer, to help woman micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries using mobile phones to access online markets. She now divides her time between consulting for companies doing business in China and helping non-profit organizations make a difference. She lives in Silicon Valley The Chinese Dream is available at the Foothill College Bookstore, and can be purchased at a 20-percent discount. Staff and faculty earn PGA/PAA credit for attending Foothill Authors Series presentations.
