Serving as the gateway entrance to the campus, the Lower Campus Complex and Lohman Theater will provide welcoming, easy access to visitors and students.
The two largest structures in the complex are the three-story Student Services Building and Life Sciences Building. Both will be built into the hillside starting out as single-level structures, terracing down the hill ending as three-story structures at street level. The Student Services Building houses Admissions, Records, Outreach, Assessment, Financial Aid and Counseling Services, Career/Transfer Center, three multipurpose rooms, a large lecture hall and faculty offices.
The Life Sciences Building houses the Veterinary Technology Program, Environmental Horticulture & Design Program, two classrooms/labs and a computer lab. The upper floor houses the Biology Program, with five new labs and instructional support spaces. The building exits to new outbuildings supporting these programs, including kennels, a barn, green houses, a lath house and open space for animal paddocks and gardens.
At the top of the Lower Campus Complex, a classroom building houses a multi-media computer lab and two large lecture halls each seating 60 students.
The 200-seat Lohman Theater offers the community a new venue for theater and fine arts performances in a beautiful and comfortable facility. With an intelligent design that utilizes technology and maximizes space flexibility, the Lohman Theater will be one of Silicon Valley's top venues for fine arts experiences. A large lobby area suitable for receptions will double as a gallery space for Foothill exhibits.
Except for the Lohman Theater, the main buildings feature green roofs with soil and plantings to mimic the natural landscape when viewed from the upper campus. Both large buildings have outside elevators that offer access to the upper campus.
