Foothill students, faculty and staff celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our
campus community throughout the year, and especially during our heritage month
festivities, which run from January through June. From art exhibits and literature
events, guest speakers and panel discussions, live entertainment and theatre
performances, film screenings and hot-topic workshops, you'll have fun as you
learn about diverse cultures.
At Foothill College,
January is Jewish Heritage Month;
February is Black History Month;
March is Women's History Month;
April is Asian Pacific Islander Month;
May is Latino Heritage Month;
and June is Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender Heritage Month.
Heritage Month Planning Committees, which are comprised of students, faculty and staff as well as community leaders, recruit members and meet during Summer Session and Fall Quarter to organize exciting events for the education, empowerment and entertainment of the campus and community. Foothill students chair these planning committees, and in turn are eligible to earn UC-transferrable units for planning and attending events. Faculty and staff can earn PAA/PGA credit. The Student Activities Office assists with the logistics of budgeting, planning, marketing and hosting heritage month celebrations.
