Pro Tools Expert Will Teach Intensive Workshop
Foothill's Music Technology Program Has New Digidesign® Pro Tools Lab
Foothills Music Technology Program, a Digidesign®-sponsored school, is now affiliated with San Jose-based Future Rhythm, one of the only Digidesign Authorized Pro Schools in the Bay Area. The partnership enables Foothill to offer the most comprehensive music technology curriculum in the United States. This shared curriculum integrates Foothills associate degree in music technology with the advanced-level Digidesign certification offered by Future Rhythm.
If youre considering a career in recording arts, film, multimedia or any of the new careers emerging in the new media industry, Foothills faculty, curriculum and facilities are second to none, says Foothill Music Technology Program Director Mark Anderson.
To check out our new equipment and facility, and meet program faculty, enroll in the three-day Pro Tools 101 training session, which runs Dec. 1517 in the state-of-the art InterDisciplinary Arts (IDEA) Center at Foothill College. The course is team-taught and led by Future Rhythms Bruce Tamblingthe only Pro Tools expert-level instructor in Northern California, and one of only a few in the world.

Foothills new IDEA Center houses a 30-station multimedia lab, featuring twin projection screens, a huge audio and video library on every station with a Korg MIDI keyboard and all plug-ins. Each student station at Foothill is a fully functional, 100-percent Pro Tools-equipped station.
Students who continue at Foothill have weekday and weekend access to Foothills IDEA Center and Pro Tools TDM-based recording studio. Students interested in progressing toward Digidesign certification can take additional Pro Tools classes at Future Rhythm and get up to a 10-percent discount.

More General Education Courses Now Offered at Foothill Middlefield Campus
You can now enroll in sections of popular general education courses at the Foothill College Middlefield Campus in Palo Alto.
Courses are offered weekday mornings in a convenient block schedule format from 8 to 11:50 a.m. For Winter Quarter, these courses include composition and reading, critical reading and thinking, economics, psychology, marriage and family, sociology, history of Western civilization, elementary algebra, intermediate golf, yoga, weight training, Pilatesand others.
Located just minutes from Hwy. 101, the campus is near the intersection of Middlefield and San Antonio roads at 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto and is serviced by VTA Bus Route 35.

New Course
Reading & Writing in the Digital Era
Learn to read and write well in the 21st century by enrolling in the five-unit ENGL 108: 21st Century Literacy: Reading & Writing in the Digital Era course.
Students will learn skills not only in college-level critical reading and expository writing but also in the new literacies of designing documents, using blogs for discussion, analyzing visual images, creating multimedia projects, and thinking critically about Web information.
In this project-based class, students will use the latest technologies to create digital stories and arguments about their educational experiences, and share strategies for a successful college experience.
This class, equivalent to English 100/110 courses combined, spans Winter and Spring quarters because students are learning a variety of skills in reading, writing and digital publication.
