Short LINC Courses Offer the Latest Software Applications

The Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) at Foothill College houses the college’s largest open-access computer lab, technology classrooms, a digital art gallery and a cyber café. The KCI is also headquarters for the Learning in NewMedia Classrooms (LINC) Program, a series of concentrated technology courses designed for educators. Now, community members and current Foothill students can enroll in LINC classes, many of which meet weekday afternoons or Saturday mornings.

Throughout Spring Quarter, LINC will offer a variety of Saturday classes, including Excel, PowerPoint, Flash, Flash Cartoons, Filemaker Pro, DreamWeaver, Acrobat, HTML, Photoshop Elements, Photoshop, OS X, Using a PDA and Internet basics. California residents pay $12 per unit, plus a one-time, per-quarter registration fee of $16 for LINC courses. To register for LINC courses, access www.foothill.edu/kci/linc.

The KCI also offers the CIS 50A09: Using the Computer–PC (Windows) course, which satisfies the technology proficiency requirements for a preliminary teaching credential. The course is also accepted for teacher credential programs at San Jose State University.
Foothill students can use the KCI’s labs Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call (650) 949-7680.

Online Courses Spotlight

Managing Wide Area Networks
Foothill’s four-unit CNET 61: Wide Area Networking course will help you develop an understanding of WAN access, application and data transport across WAN as well as
in-depth education of certain applications that require WAN support.

Spanish for Heritage Speakers
If you read, speak or understand Spanish but have difficulty writing the language well, Foothill now offers the online five-unit SPAN 10A: Spanish for Heritage Speakers course. Learn to place accents and spell correctly, and express your ideas coherently.

Streamlining the University Transfer Process
If you’re planning to transfer to a four-year university, Foothill can help you maximize your chances of being accepted. By enrolling in our online one-unit CNSL 85H: Transfer Readiness course, you’ll learn how to choose the right courses, how to choose the right colleges and how to write an effective application essay.

Real Estate Finance
The interest in California real estate has never been stronger. Foothill offers an associate degree program in real estate as well as sales agent and broker specialty certificates. Foothill also offers an online version of the four-unit RE 53: Real Estate Finance course. You’ll analyze mortgage interest rate determinants, credit scoring and loan underwriting, loan programs and qualifying, and more. The class satisfies the continuing education requirements for licensure.

the Culture of Popular Music

Earn a California Child Development Teacher's Permit

As part of the state’s Child Development Training Consortium, Foothill College offers you the opportunity to earn a California Child Development Teacher’s Permit at an affordable cost.

Child development courses offered this spring at Foothill’s Middlefield Campus in Palo Alto include behavior and development of the school-age child; observation techniques; literacy and literature in preschool education; curriculum for the preschool classroom; and administrative supervision.
