A Rewarding Career as a Paramedic Starts at the Middlefield Campus

Stephanie Pucci
CE Credits for Working Paramedics Coming Soon

A paramedic for 14 years and trauma nurse for eight, Stephanie Pucci has devoted her professional life to providing quality medical assistance for patients when they have needed her the most. A 1987 alumna of the Foothill College Paramedic Program, Pucci has returned to the Foothill Middlefield Campus to serve as the program’s director.

“If you can’t sit behind a desk and crave a career that is fast paced and gives you a variety of challenges each day, you should consider a career as a paramedic,” she says. “My goal is to ensure that there are paramedics in our community who have a comprehensive, quality emergency medial education—the very best training available. And, that means the Foothill College Paramedic Program.”

By attending a prescribed sequences of courses two days per week, students can complete the program’s classroom component in nine months. In addition to coursework, students work 192 hours in a hospital emergency department and 720 hours on an ambulance. Upon completion, students receive a Certificate of Proficiency and are eligible to take the state exam for professional licensure.

In addition to recruiting new students for the program, Pucci is developing a continuing education component that will enable working paramedics to complete required training at the Palo Alto campus. Look for continuing education offerings this summer.

Students must apply for admission to the program by May 3 and are notified of acceptance in June. Courses begin in September. For information, call (650) 354-8359.
