State Budget Update

California community colleges are struggling through one of the worst state budget crises in history. To offset the states pending $30-plus billion deficit, the governor and legislature cut $4.7 million from the Foothill-De Anza Community College District budget this year. The governors 20032004 budget proposes significantly larger cuts.
Despite these challenges, Foothill College continues to offer a full selection of summer classes. While budget cuts have forced a reorganization of staff and resources, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing our community with a comprehensive selection of transfer preparation, career training and professional development courses. Although we continue to offer a wide variety of courses as in previous years, some services and campus offices will have reduced hours of operation this summer.
As Foothill College prepares for further cuts in the 20032004 state budget, the faculty, staff and administration are working together to find solutions to the many challenges at hand. It is the colleges highest priority to preserve our core mission of providing high-quality higher educational opportunities to our community.
