New Evening Classes
English Classes for Non-Native Speakers

To meet the needs of students whose first language is not English, Foothill will offer a series of evening English as a Second Language courses this summer. The ESL 136, 146, 156 and 166 courses focus on grammar, and the ESL 25 course is an intermediate composition class. All summer ESL courses meet Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:15 p.m.

“We understand that learning and mastering the English language takes time,” says Foothill English Instructor Rich Morasci. “By taking a grammar course at Foothill, you can focus your attention on learning English in a comfortable environment where you can ask questions, experiment with the language and increase your confidence in using English.”

Local employers can also encourage workers to attend Foothill ESL courses to improve on-the-job communication skills. Grammar classes cover a range of abilities from beginning to advanced.

Study Abroad Fall 2002 or Spring 2003
Plan Now to Study in London or Paris

Spend Fall Quarter 2002 in exciting London, England, when you participate in the Foothill College Campus Abroad Program Oct. 11 through Dec. 7. One of the world’s most beautiful capitals, London is rich in art, music, theater and literary history. It is also the seat of British government and the world’s longest surviving monarchy. The approximate program cost excluding airfare is $3,000.

The program includes a series of interdisciplinary lectures on British life and culture that will provide you with a broad background of British culture and civilization. You’ll also participate in related field trips to a variety of attractions, including the Museum of London, the National and Tate galleries, the Houses of Parliament, Stonehenge and Stratford on Avon.

You’ll enroll in fully transferable courses that are taught by faculty from Foothill, De Anza and Lake Tahoe colleges. Courses are specially selected to maximize the benefits of being in London.

Spend Spring 2003 in Paris
The art treasures of the Louvre, the historical significance of the Arc de Triomphe, and French conversation at a sidewalk café will make your classes come to life as you earn college credit in Paris during Spring Quarter 2003. Foothill and De Anza college faculty will lead the eight-week campus abroad program to Paris. Trip dates will be announced soon.

In addition to classroom presentations, you will experience French life and culture by visiting the chateaux of the Loire Valley, Monet’s home in Giverny, Mont Saint Michel and the coastal village of Saint Malo.
