Your Start to a Successful Academic Career
Students of all ages who are new to the college learning experience now have the unique opportunity to earn college credit in two courses and enjoy a unique educational experience in a community of learners.
By participating in Foothill's First-Year Experience Program, students and faculty collaborate as learners and teachers in specially designed courses called learning communities. The program gives you coordination of coursework, convenient schedules, interrelated courses and interesting subjects, personal attention from outstanding Foothill faculty, supportive study groups and opportunities to make friends, and a developed sense of college community.
The program is not a typical classroom learning experience. Instead, you'll register for linked learning community courses, study two subjects around a common theme and meet with the same group of students and faculty members from one course to the next.
Get started by taking the Foothill assessment test and then registering for the paired courses listed below. For assessment dates and times, access www.foothill.edu. For more information, call Foothill First-Year Experience Counselor Kris Samarov at (650) 949-7212.

Summer Benefit Gala Raises $100,000 for Foothill Programs
At its fifth annual Summer Music Theater Benefit Gala, the Foothill College Commission raised more than $100,000 net proceeds as patrons enjoyed a VIP performance of Brigadoon presented by award-winning Foothill Music Theatre (FMT) as well as an alfresco dinner, wine tasting, and live and silent auctions.
Proceeds will benefit the FMT Program; Foothill College student services such as counseling, retention and mentoring; and the Lohman Theater and Campus Center Heritage Rooms that celebrate the diversity of the community and Foothill students. The theater and heritage rooms are key components of the college's Campus Center and Lower Campus construction projects. Last year, the gala raised $60,000 for Foothill College programs.
