Former Professional Volleyball Player Named Women's Volleyball Coach
Foothill Reactivates Women's Team

Katy Ripp In time for the fall season, Foothill has reactivated its intercollegiate women’s volleyball team under the leadership of new Coach Katy Ripp, former assistant coach and physical education instructor from Stanford and Santa Clara universities. A former professional player and Academic All American at the University of the Pacific, Ripp joins Foothill with the charge of building ahigh-quality women’s volleyball program.

“Working with young women who are transitioning into their adult lives is an opportunity to make a positive impact,” Ripp says. “Our program will focus on success on the court as well as supporting student-athletes in their academic success at Foothill.”

Ripp played professionally in the Bud Light Professional Beach Volleyball Tour from 1993 to 1997, and was named the 1993 Bud Light Surprise Player of the Year. During her senior year at UOP, she was named UOP NCAA Woman Athlete of theYear, and graduated cum laude with a major in sociology.

French Course Features Francophone Literature
Build Reading & Conversational Skills

This fall, Foothill’s FREN 4: Intermediate French evening course features exciting new materials that focus on the diversity of francophone literature. Conducted in French, the five-unit course will include unabridged short stories from many French-speaking countries, including Morocco, Haiti, Senegal, Martinique, Canada, Vietnam, the Congo and France. Condensed Courses for an Introduction to GIS
Geographic Information Systems

Learn about Geographic Information Systems and the latest GIS software applications available by enrolling in a GIS course this fall. Foothill will present GEOG 100A: Introduction to ArcGIS, Oct. 4 and 6, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and GEOG 100B: Introduction to GeoMedia & GeoMedia Pro, Oct. 11 and 13, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
