Master Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

Fall Quarter is the ideal time to enter Foothill’s MS Windows Server 2003 training program. It is designed to provide you with the skills to work effectively in a networking environment and prepare for Microsoft’s MCSA and MCSE certification exams. You can also complete Foothill’s MCSA and MCSE certificates, which are independent of Microsoft, in as few as three quarters. By completing the series, you will be able to install and maintain the OS; configure and administer TCP/IP net services; create user group and PC accounts; manage and monitor net access; and optimize and troubleshootIP Security.

Foothill’s CNET 60A: Managing & Maintaining MS Windows Server 2003 Environment prepares you for the Microsoft 70-290 exam; CNET 60B: Implementing, Managing & Maintaining MS Windows Server 2003 Infrastructure prepares you for exam 70-291; and CNET 60C: Planning & Maintaining MS Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure prepares you for exam 70-293.

In addition, Foothill is now a Pearson Vue Test Center and offers industry certification testing on campus at discounted rates for students. You can now take exams for all major certifications, including Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco and A+ at the Foothill campus.

Short LINC Courses Offer the Latest Software Applications

linc The Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) at Foothill College houses the college’s largest open-access computer lab, technology classrooms, a digital art gallery and a cyber café. Foothill students can use the KCI’s labs Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The KCI is also headquarters for the Learning in NewMedia Classrooms (LINC) Program, a series of concentrated technology courses designed for educators. Now, community members and current Foothill students can enroll in LINC classes, many of which meet weekday afternoons or Saturday mornings.

Online Courses Spotlight

Creative Writers Can Write Plays
Learn to write original, producible plays by enrolling in the four-unit CRWR 36A: Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Playwriting course. Plays written for the online class will be considered for workshop production at Foothill College in Spring Quarter, and selected plays may be produced at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2005.

Managing Wide Area Networks
Foothill’s four-unit CNET 61: Wide Area Networking online course will help you develop an understanding of WAN access, application and data transport across WAN as well as in-depth analysis of applications that require WAN support. You’ll learn ATM technology and how to choose the VoIP phone solution that will save the most money.

Sophisticated Systems Analysis & Design Course
Use CASE tools such as Visio to create models, diagrams and interfaces by enrolling in the five-unit CIS 63A: Systems Analysis & Design course. The online course will give you an introduction to project management, object-oriented design and UML. The course articulates to San Jose State University for students who are majoring in computer science. The class meets ACM/IEEE guidelines and transfers to other colleges that offer lower-division systems analysis course requirements.

Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Preparation
Foothill offers a series of online courses designed to prepare you to take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Examinations. Each course emphasizes hands-on experiences in producing relational databases, spreadsheets, visual presentations and text documents. Certification preparation courses offered online include CAST 93A: PowerPoint 2003 (3 units); CAST 104A: Word 2003 (2.5 units); CAST 107D: Excel 2003
(2.5 units); and CAST 109F: Access 2003 (2.5 units).

Explore Psychology
Explore the primary concepts of psychology, including factors that influence human behavior and experience, by enrolling in the five-unit PSYC 1: General Psychology online course. You’ll discuss perception, motivation and emotion, personality, treatment and social processes.
