Freshman Experience Program For English & Math Students
Fall Offers Expanded Classes, Convenient Schedules & More Opportunties
Fall Quarter at Foothill offers all students expanded course offerings, new scheduling options and financial aid resources.
To help balance your college education with your busy schedule, Foothill now offers new meeting days and times for general education classes. These courses meet twice and three times a week, instead of the traditional four- and five-day weekly meeting schedule. This means more convenience and more options for you. Be sure to register early for best course selection.
While the state budget has brought challenges to community colleges over the last three years, Foothill continues to offer you quality instruction, outstanding instructors and comprehensive student support services. California residents pay $17 per quarter unit. Weve also expanded our financial aid services in response to increased fees, and our online classes and student services offer convenience and affordability. Learn more at www.foothill.edu.
The New Freshman Experience
Beginning this fall, Foothill will offer the Freshman Experience Learning Communityan entirely new program for students who are new to the college experience. The program links your basic-skills English or math course with a counseling class. All of the counseling courses are transferable to UC and CSU campuses. Instructors teach the linked courses as a team by coordinating assignments and class activities. By participating in the program, youll build solid college-level academic skills, develop a relationship with two great instructors, and create study groups and lasting friendships with peers.
Its important to begin your Foothill education by taking assessment tests for English and math. If you test into a basic skills English or math class, youre eligible to enroll in the Freshman Experience. You must complete your assessment by Sept. 18 for fall enrollment. For assessment dates and times, access www.foothill.edu then click Apply and Register.
If you test into MATH 200, MATH 250, ENGL 100 or ENGL 110 courses, then review the list of classes on the inside back cover of the printed Schedule of Classes or on our homepage and select those that best meet your schedule. Register online at www.foothill.edu or by phone. Finally, attend New Student Orientation Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. in the Smithwick Theater quad at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.
