This is a unique initiative that matches students majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) fields with internships at local universities and private companies. This is the fifth year the internship program has helped students gain real world experience in laboratories to conduct cutting-edge research in various fields of science, as well as make connections with scientists and industry officials.
The Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco and Foothill College is launching the Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) Diversity Scholars Program.
This program is a summer internship for students to engage in a 5-week mentored program focused on mastering multidisciplinary laboratory techniques, exposure to a range of STEM topics, and learning about entrepreneurship.
This is a multidisciplinary program, recruiting from the STEM sciences, with special focus on the following majors:
Priority will be given to students completing their first year with a NSF/SLI Scholarship and
underrepresented students from low-income families.

When: June 29 through July 30, 2015, Monday – Thursday: 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Where: UCSF Mission Bay Neuroscience Center
Transportation: Free transportation from and back to Foothill College (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Intern Funds: For the 80 hours at UCSF ($1000)
Lunch: Provided each day
Supplies: Provided, including a custom white lab coat at no charge
College Credit: ITRN 51 (2 units)
