Graduates of the program have said...

This experience has been wonderful in so many ways. I feel that I have gained real world work experience that fits directly into my major. This past year I have also worked directly with some of the most experienced leaders. I have developed important professional relationships with many who are in the same field I plan on studying.

This internship has opened doors to new ways of thinking, and has even influenced my decision of which university to transfer to. It has provided me with a strong foundation and base in the modern day business and research world. It has also shown me the practical applications of many of the skills I have already learned in college.

I would highly recommend this program to all students who are motivated, disciplined, and interested to find out many of the possibilities and opportunities that exist within the Foothill/De Anza Internship Program.
Stefan Anderson, 2008 Pister Scholar, UC Santa Cruz

I am an Administrative Assistant in the Office of Education at NASA Ames. Now that I have completed my internship, I not only think NASA is a cool place to work, but it has been one of the best experiences of my life. My internship has met all of my personal and professional expectations and I have learned so much. I work with professionals whose motivation to do their jobs is because it is their passion. Professionally, I have improved my knowledge of computer use, time management, communication and presentation skills. Additionally, because my education always took precedence, my supervisor, an outstanding mentor, was always very flexible with my work hours. Personally, I have gained many new friendships and a wealth of understanding of what NASA really is all about, and the depth of its contribution to our nation!! All aspects of my life have been enriched through interning at NASA through the Foothill-De Anza Internship Program and it has been a very fulfilling experience.
Jean Wesolowski

"There I was, one fall day looking at a poster that said I could have a job at NASA!!! 'How exciting', I thought to myself. Then I saw that it was an internship and wasn't sure if I could do something that I didn't get paid for. I called the number listed and to my surprise, not only was the internship paid, but at a better rate then I could get in most other part-time jobs and I knew that they would be flexible with my school schedule since it was a joint project between my school and NASA. I would have never imagined that I would be sitting here almost a year and a half later, completely in love with my job. What I like the most about the internship is the experience that I have gained in the professional work setting and the friends that I have made in the office. I work in a real office with career professionals, people who have been doing their job for 10 ,15 or 20 years and are still happy to work here. I have made great networking connections, learned a lot about time management and increased my ability to do more tasks while keeping within the necessary time frame, and I have learned in depth about my work style and what sorts of jobs I would be interested in as a long term career. I have also learned how to handle the responsibility of an "adult" job. For all the reasons mentioned above and many more, this is the most professionally and personally fulfilling job that I have had."

"My internship experience has enriched my studies by affording me a broader context for learning and a depth of understanding that I would have not otherwise had at this point in my education. It has given me a wealth of insights into the direction in which I hope to take my education and career."

Past sponsors of the program value the work that an intern can provide but more importantly, enjoy mentoring and contributing to their professional growth!

"I enjoy having their youthful perspectives, new ideas and positive energy! I love passing on my pearls of wisdom and contributing to my intern's professional growth. They listen to me more than my own kids do!"
