Admissions title

Foothill TheaterApplying to Foothill College is easy! You must complete our international student application form and submit additional required documents.

We are now accepting applications for the Fall Quarter, which will start on Sept. 22, 2008! If you are overseas, the deadline to apply is July 31, 2008. Please note that visa processing times may vary quite a bit from country to country. If you are already in the U.S. and studying at a different school with an F1 visa, the application deadline may generally be extended by three more weeks, please contact the International Admissions Office at 650-949-7293 for more information.

After we have received your completed application and you have met the necessary requirements, we will process your acceptance and send your acceptance documents within a week. These are the documents that you will use to apply for the F-1 visa.

Our staff travels to many countries to meet prospective students. Please check the latest Staff Travel Schedule to find out if Foothill representatives will be in your home country.

NEW! Foothill College is now able to accept credit card payments for the $50 application fee. Download the credit card authorization form. If you have specific questions about admissions, please contact our International Admissions Coordinator at foothillinternational@foothill.edu.

Admissions Deadlines
International students can apply and enter Foothill three times during the year (Fall, Winter, and Spring). All documents for admission must be submitted by the following deadlines:
Fall Quarter July 31 Classes begin mid September
Winter Quarter October 31 Classes begin early January
Spring Quarter January 31 Classes begin early April
If you are already in the U.S. and you would like to transfer to Foothill directly from a U.S. language school or college, the application deadline will be extended three weeks (from the above deadlines). Please check with our International Admissions Coordinator (foothillinternational@foothill.edu) for a firm deadline.

Requirements for Admissions
In order to be accepted by Foothill College, applicants must satisfy the following:

  • Be at least 16.5 years old.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a minimum TOEFL score of 500 paper-based, 173 computer-based, or 61 IBT, or a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 less than 2 years old.
  • Submit original or certified English translations of transcripts showing completion of secondary school or high school, and transcripts of any other college/university attended. O level is enough for admission (preliminary examination results will be accepted for provisionary admission). SAT is not required.

Summer Bridge Program
If your TOEFL score is between 475 and 499 and you would like to apply to Foothill for the Fall quarter, you can attend our Foothill Summer Bridge Program, a six week intensive language study program which guarantees you admission to Foothill in the following fall quarter. A brochure and application for the Foothill Summer Bridge Program are available online.

Language Schools
If your English test score is below our minimum for admission, you may wish to attend one of our partner language schools to improve your English proficiency. Foothill College has agreements with several local and national language schools, such as ELS, Intrax, Eurocentres Silicon Valley (formerly Language Pacifica) and others, which allow conditional admission to Foothill upon completion of a specified level at the language school, or upon reaching the required TOEFL/IELTS score. A conditional letter of acceptance may be issued upon request after a student has applied to both the language school and to Foothill. For more information, please refer to our language school list or contact our International Admissions Coordinator.
