How to connect to the server in the IDEA Center
The IDEA center servers are large capacity drives that are used by instructors
as areas where students can turn in assignments, access media and data files
and store large projects. There are 2 servers, the multimedia/music server
and the graphic/photo server.
- In the finder, select go from the top pull down menus
- Select connect to server (or command-k).
- Select 153.18.144.201 for the graphic/phto server.
- Select 153.18.144.202 for the multimedia/music server.
- In the login window, select guest.
- Double click on the name of the folder you need (class/data, etc.).
- The icon of the selected folder will appear on your desktop - you can now
copy files from the server, or upload files to the server by clicking and
dragging. Just select the file or document you want to upload/download,
click and hold the mouse, then drag it to thelocation you want. It's actually quite easy!
- To unmount the server, just drag the icon to the trash. You won't lose any data,
it will just disconnect your station from the server.
- If you have the server mounted, and do not use it for a period of time,
it will automatically disconnect, and a message will appear - this is normal
and no data has been lost.
