Non-print Materials Available
The Media Center, housed in the brick annex behind Semans Library, provides students with access to over 2000 videotapes, audio tapes, CD-ROMs, slides, and computer software related to the classes given at Foothill. In addition, we provide access to reserve materials assigned by faculty. In the Media Center there are slide and video viewing stations, cassette players, and PC and Macintosh computers on which students can view or listen to these materials.
Open Computer Lab
Need to type up that last minute paper but don't have time to go home before class starts? The Open Computer Lab in the Media Center can save the day by providing access to PC and Macintosh computers equipped with word processing software and networked to printers. The computers are available to current students on a first come, first served basis.
In addition, students can use dedicated workstations to surf the Internet and World Wide Web.
Foothill College Library/Media Center Privacy Policy
Although Foothill College Library/Media Center attempts to protect your privacy, under the federal USA Patriot Act (Public Law 107-56), records of the books and other materials you borrow from this library and/or media center may be obtained by federal agents. The federal law prohibits library and media center employees from informing you if federal agents have obtained records about you.
Unauthorized and prohibited software has been found on computers in the Media Center that can track every keystroke you type. We attempt to prevent such software from being installed and remove it as soon as we discover it. However, you need to know that any data you enter on public computers may be recorded and used by someone else in an illegal and prohibited manner.
According to Board Policy #3250, "
the District Network is not to be relied upon as confidential, and all District employees, students, independent contractors and authorized guests can have no expectation of privacy concerning their uses of the District Network or concerning information created or stored in such media."
