Uploading Files to Your Account with SFTP Software

The CTIS systems support security. We support only software programs that utilize the Secure File Transfer Program protocol. SFTP software encrypts your username/password and the data you are transmitting. In order to upload files to our system, you need an SFTP software program.

The links below detail free and low-cost software which you can download, install on your machine, and use to transfer files between your home computer and our UNIX systems. These links also include step-by-step directions to connect and transfer files to our systems.

This is by no means a complete list of software that is available for this purpose.

Macintosh OS 8/9 - MacSFTP   ($25, 15 day free trial) *
Macintosh OS X - Fugu   (free) *

Windows - WinSCP3   (free) *
Windows - WS_FTP Pro   ($39.95, 30 day free trial)

* Indicates the program is installed in our labs.

Note: If you are using a UNIX machine like Mac OS X or Linux, and you are comfortable with the command-line interface, you have the free and built-in SFTP and SSH tools available in your shell environment. Try doing a man sftp or man ssh to learn more about these capabilities.
