Grading Criteria
The following are brief descriptions of course assignments.
- Job Description
The Job Description Worksheet (PDF) describes your present job. This will allow your CWE instructor to understand your duties. It must be completed and handed in at the first meeting with your instructor.
- Learning Objectives
The Learning Objective Worksheet (PDF) requires that you and your supervisor discuss and establish the learning objectives that you will perform during the quarter. Explanations of how to compose your learning objectives are explained in Guidelines for Writing Learning Objectives. This is a critical assignment and must be signed off by your present supervisor. You will discuss your learning objectives at the first meeting with your CWE instructor.
- Performance Agreement
After the Learning Objectives Worksheet is reviewed and approved by your Foothill instructor, the learning objectives are transferred to the Performance Agreement (PDF) form. This is the official record of goals for the quarter and is the mechanism by
which your supervisor will evaluate how well you accomplished your objectives. The
largest portion of your grade is determined by your effectiveness in completing your
learning objectives. The Performance Agreement must be signed by your supervisor and turned into your Instructor by the fourth week of the quarter.
- Mid-Term Progress Report (mandatory)
Submit an one-page report addressing each learning objective. The report can be in a simple format/bullet format highlighting progress and challenges on each goal. Report also on required hours and if you are complying with work hours needed for credit.
- Timecards
Three timecards must be turned in on specific dates during the quarter. These dates are on the Syllabus (PDF), which you will receive at the first meeting with your Instructor. Timecards allow your Instructor to confirm the number of credits you will be receiving during the quarter.
For a paid position, 50 hours per unit is awarded per quarter and for an approved non-profit assignment
40 hours per unit is awarded per quarter. The timecards certify your participation in employment. If there is any change in your employment, contact your instructor immediately.
- Required Project
The required project has several options: 1) Career Planning, 2) Career Portfolio, 3) Service
Learning Project , 4) Training Seminar Paper, 5) Resume, 6) Extra Learning Objective, 7) Informational Interview, or 8) Journal. See the Guidelines for the Required Project for more information.
- Self-Evaluation Report
The Self-Evaluation Report is a reflective narrative essay assessing and describing
your learning experiences accomplished while enrolled in the Cooperative Education
program. See the Guidelines for Writing a Self-Evaluation Report. This is a mandatory assignment for the course; if the report is not completed an automatic "F" will be given.
- Deadlines
Please adhere to the deadlines stated on the Syllabus (PDF). Points may be deducted for turning in an assignment late. See grading sheet (PDF) for point system.
