Hi and welcome to my web page! I teach courses in sociology. I am a political sociologist and my interests lie mainly in social issues to do with popular culture, media and the family. One of the things that I like to do is to help students to see the world in a different way and to develop what C. Wright Mills called a Sociological Imagination. This is a way of seeing the interconnections between personal social life and public issues.

I am highly enthusiastic about the field of sociology and the study of patterns of human interaction. It is a vibrant, diverse and interesting field that focuses on issues to do with groups, societies and social life in real life settings. We do not live and learn in isolation but in relation and so we are all social beings. This means that there is something in sociology for everyone. Therefore, there is something in sociology of definite interest to YOU! So, take a sociology course - among other things it'll improve your outlook!

Here's some information on my educational and professional background, research, publications, service work and interesting sociology and social issues links...
