Kurt Hueg, acting Vice President of Instruction and Institutional Research, former Dean of the Business and Social Sciences Division, and former Associate Vice President for External Relations for Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, is committed to community college education and has expertise in enrollment management, curriculum development, online education, marketing, governmental relations, accreditation, integrated planning and budgeting, technology, publications, websites and internal and external communications. As Dean of the Business and Social Sciences Division, he supervises the largest academic division at Foothill College, comprising the departments of accounting, anthropology, business, child development, economics, geography, gerontology, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, special education, sociology and womenís studies. Under his leadership as Accreditation Liaison Officer, Foothill College received full reaffirmation of accreditation in 2012, following a comprehensive self study and site visit in Fall 2011. During his tenure leading the collegeís marketing, communications and government relations initiatives, Foothill earned 50 regional and national awards for marketing and publications excellence. Prior to joining Foothill College in 1995, Kurt served for four years as public information officer at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California.
Before joining Saddleback College, Kurt served for two years as a senior staff writer and education reporter for the South Orange County News, a group of community newspapers operated in conjunction with the Orange County Register. Kurt holds a masterís degree in business administration from Santa Clara University and a bachelorís degree in political science from UCLA. He transferred to UCLA from Saddleback College, where he studied journalism.
Active in professional, community and civic organizations, Kurt is a past board member of the Association of Community College Administrators (ACCCA) and a past board member of the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce, and a past president of the California Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO). Kurt is also a member of the Los Altos Rotary Club and the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.
Kurtís honors and recognitions include a 2006 Technology Focus Award from the California Community College Chancellorís Office, for developing a curriculum management system, the 2004 Volunteer of the Year Award for the Association of California Community College Administrators, the 2002 Communicator of the Year, from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District VI and the 2002 ALL PRO Award, from the Community College Public Relations Organization.
