I am an instructor in the Business and Social Sciences Division (BSS) at Foothill College. I mainly teach accounting and business courses both traditionally and online. During the following academic year (20015-16) I will be teaching Financial, Managerial, and/or Intermediate Accounting sections. Check my Teaching Schedule for more detail (refer to my website url above). Note that, at times, I also teach at other colleges, such as at Mission and Menlo College.

Enjoy hiking, nature walks, and basically being outdoors. My favorite spots seem to always be located next to bodies of water: lakes, rivers, oceans. Love scuba diving and snorkeling on the reefs of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta; next are the reefs in Phukett (Thailand), Boracay (Philippines), and the Barrier Reef.

Enjoy traveling, especially to Asia and Latin America. I have had the great pleasure of meeting the magnificent people and enjoying the cultures and foods of Mexico, Argentina, Brasil, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Belgium, Holland, England, Italy, France, Greece, and Turkey. I hope to make it to the continent of Africa in addition to Chile, Myanmar, Guatemala, Spain, South Africa among others within the next decade.

Enjoy sports in general, but mostly interested in Futbol or soccer, as it is called in the USA. Head Soccer Coach at Sierra Vista HS (Baldwin Park, Southern Cal.), Fremont HS (Sunnyvale), and Burton HS (SF) for 10 years.
Men's Head Soccer Coach at Foothill College for 3 years (2004-2006).

Born in Guadalajara Mexico, raised in California since the age of 9. Lived in South-Central Los Angeles, East LA, Baldwin Park and other areas of Los Angeles. Moved to the Bay Area for my MBA and did not return to Los Angeles -- too much traffic. Currently I live in San Francisco with my partner Chen and our two dogs.

Professionally, I received my CPA in 1996 while working for Deloitte (CPA firm) as a Senior Tax Consultant in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Later I was a Senior Financial Analyst with Hewlett-Packard's Microwave and Finance/Remarketing Divisions. For over a decade, I maintained a minor, but very active role in the area of tax preparation and compliance to keep my skills up to date. I also contributed to several projects with local small and large businesses. I now focus on improving my teaching skills and on coaching soccer - my first love.

My academic path includes stints at two community colleges (Mount San Antonio and Santa Monica), two Cal State Universities (Cal Poly, Cal State LA), and two UC's (UCLA, BA Economics - '92; UC Berkeley's, Haas School of Business, Masters in Bus Admin - '97). So, I have been exposed to the three public educational college systems in California.

I have also completed several formal certificates and courses in masters (SFSU, CSUEB) and doctoral (USF) level programs related to online learning and cognitive psychology. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at the University of Liverpool in the UK - class of 2018, if I actually finish (wish me luck).

Additionally, I continually update my accounting and business skills via several seminars and workshops each year, including over 100 hours of continuing education with the Cal CPA, conferences, etc.
