Foothill College Women's Softball Program

Off Season

Off Season Workouts.

The Foothill College Softball program has an extensive off-season program designed to not only continuously work on softball fundamentals, but we have a very comprehensive speed, strength, and agility program.

Our workouts consist of 4 days a week. We spend two days a week on the field working on all aspects of softball.  We spend another two days a week in the weight room and on the football field working on increasing our overall speed, strength, and agility while also concentrating on injury prevention and treatment.

On field days, practices are run just as we run them in season.  Players are told the objectives of each practice and understand what is expected of them both as a team and individually.  We go through our dynamic warmup routine followed by throwing.  Players are then broken up into positions in order to best work on specific skills and fundamentals.  Our practices have very little down time as we try to get the most out of every minute.

During our workout days, players start out in the weight room with an overall weight-lifting routine designed specifically for our softball players.  Focus is placed on increasing overall strength and preventing future injuries.  Players isolate specific muscles through a variety of different lifts.  After their weight room session, players move outside and go through different routines varying day to day focusing on speed and agility training.  Lastly, players go through a strenuous 15 minute core workout.

Players interested in playing for Foothill Softball in 2010 should be enrolled in:
