Certified Electrician Trainee Program
The Certified Electrician Trainee (CE) classes are designed to provide electricians with an opportunity to continue working, as well as meet continuing education requirements. However, there are four steps you need to take before enrolling in one of the CE classes.
Step 1: Stop by one of our electrician training partners and take care of all four steps at once; or start by applying for admission to Foothill College by going to our website and filling out the Foothill Application for Admission: http://www.foothill.edu/reg/index.php
Step 2: (This step may not apply to everyone) Go to the Division of Apprenticeship Standards Website and follow the directions for how to become an Electrician Trainee: http://www.dir.ca.gov/DAS/ElectricalTrainee.htm
Note1: If the DAS requests that you submit Foothill College's official letterhead and signature verifying your enrollment, then please fill out a Verify Enrollment form and write on the "OTHER (Be Specific)" line, " I need confirmation of my enrollment in a C E 101 course." Next, fax the form to the number listed on the bottom.
Note2: The DAS has requested that students enrolled in Certified Electrian Trainee Classes complete all class hours, and in addition, the instructor may be asked to report class attendance to the State.
Step 3: Review available courses offered at Santa Clara Electrical JATC and San Francisco Electrical JATC by clicking on the course schedule link in the left side navigation bar and selecting the CE department.
Step 4: If any of the information in Step 3 fits your career needs, then it’s time to enroll in class AND pay fees.
Methods of Payment and Description of Fees
Stop by one of the Electrician Training Partners to pay fees. Typically there is a site use fee, textbook costs, and of course the mandatory tuition and fees due to Foothill College for college credit. If you would like to learn more about fees, each class in the schedule should have a note listing fees and information at the bottom. You can also contact Ana Rosa at Santa Clara Electrical JATC, (408) 453-1022 ext. 102 or Lisa Saito at San Francisco Electrical JATC, (415) 587-2500 ext 5.
